🕯Yahrtzeits — kept, converted, and remembered before the day

A yahrtzeit is a date in a calendar most phones do not have, arriving on a day most calendars will not tell you about, needing arrangements that take more than an evening to make.

Lechem keeps them in the Jewish calendar, where they belong, and does the conversion once. The dates that need a decision get one — the ones that fall in a month that only exists in some years — and Lechem asks you the question once and remembers the answer, so you are not re-solving it every winter.

The warning comes early enough to matter. Not on the morning of, when there is nothing left to arrange, but in enough time to say something to a chazan, to ask for an aliyah, to arrange to learn something.

And there is somewhere to put what belongs with the date: the tefillos said, the kapitlach the family says, the name in the form it should be said. A yahrtzeit list is one of the most personal things in this app. It stays on the phone, it is not published, and nobody else sees it.
